BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT NATIONAL COUNCIL OF CHURCHES
OF BURUNDI
The National Council of Churches of Burundi is a religious institution created in 1935 under the name of Alliance of Protestant Churches of Rwanda - Urundi.
After Independence, it became the Alliance Protestant of Burundi, to change in 1989 the National Council of Churches of Burundi.
It closely works with ecumenical organizations like : W.C.C, A.A.C.C, FECCLAHA, Christian Aid, Norwegian Church Aid, Act International and others.
The Council presently gathers twelve country-wide churches namely : United Methodist Church, Free Methodist Church, Evangelical Friend Church, Baptist Union Church, Kimbanguist Church, Burundian Lutheran Church and 6 Dioceses of the Anglican church : Bujumbura, Gitega, Matana, Buye, Makamba and Muyinga.
